ABOUT US

The Theatre of Light (TOL), founded in 1998 as the "Children's Holiday Theatre" began with 9 young performers presenting a musical presentation.

In 1999, the name was changed to the "Theatre of Light" when we moved to Marblehead. Our first large-scale production in 2003, the "Wizard of Oz", attracted a cast of 53 children, and played to over 800 audience members.

Due to TOL's success, we needed to find a larger performance space. During a 9-month search for a home, we produced the revival of the original rock musical, "DESTINY" which received rave reviews and has been under consideration to be performed at the White House.

In 2004, the Immaculate Conception Church graciously offered TOL a permanent performing space in the 300-seat auditorium at the old St. Mary's School on Hawthorne Blvd. in Salem, MA.

We premiered in our new home with a production of "Mirror, Mirror", an adaptation of "Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs" with a cast of 50 children, and since then have produced several other productions including a musical of "NARNIA", Seussical, GodSpell, Sleeping Beauty, Charlotte's Web, Alice in Wonderland, James and the Giant Peach, and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

In 2005 we moved to St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Salem where we were located until December of 2010.

In January 2011, we moved to Temple B'Nai Abraham in Beverly, MA. We now have a larger auditorium with padded chairs!

In January 2013, we were excited to be moving back to Marblehead!

And now in September of 2014, we will be offering workshops and productions at the Old North Church in Marblehead.
